biography

I started painting in Polynesia. For the past twenty years I have been playing with colors.

While my roots are in France, my life has afforded me opportunities to travel and experience many places in ways that have impacted my sensitivity.

I have always felt a need to create, experimenting with painting but also with sculpture, ceramics, book-binding, photography, collage. Those different tools and textures enable me to develop my language.

Each production starts spontaneously. My creative process may use found materials to produce beauty from trash. Or, I play with the background colors until I feel the flow of creation, and the colors themselves guide me and show me the way. Actually, though, I aim to reveal the hidden, the invisible.

More and more I listen to my intuition and open the chances for serendipitous discoveries, getting out of my comfort zone.

It is up to the viewers to freely interpret my work. I hope to stimulate their imagination as well as their visual sense, and I wish that each painting will elicit an emotion.

biographie

J’ai commencé à peindre en Polynésie. Depuis vingt ans je joue avec les couleurs.

Mes racines sont en France. J’ai eu la chance de beaucoup voyager, de vivre dans des lieux qui ont développé ma sensibilité.

J’ ai toujours eu le besoin de créer, expérimentant la peinture mais aussi la sculpture, la céramique, la reliure, la photographie, le collage, ce qui me permet aujourd’hui d’utiliser des outils et techniques diverses.

Je privilégie les gestes spontanés, variant aussi les supports. Je me laisse guider par mon intuition pour sortir de mes zones de confort afin de saisir la chance de créer des résultats inattendus. Dans ce processus de création, à un moment donné, ce sont les couleurs qui s'imposent et me guident.

Mon but est de partager mes émotions tout en laissant le spectateur libre d’interpréter selon son imagination.

Le nom d'artiste que j'ai choisi, TIMU, est un pseudonyme donné par mes enfants.
